Setting up a grade R class

Good day,
I hope you are enjoying your public holiday so far. As a grade R teacher there are lots of things to keep in mind so you can look after the best interests of the children in your care. Today I'm going through the Department of Education's National Curriculum Documents and I thought I'd share some of the things that I come across with you. All of us need to comply with these regulations- as a public school, as a private school or even as a home school.
One of the first thing we need to look at are the allocated teaching times. The time that they require for each learning area are the following:
Home Language 10 hours per week
Mathematics 6 hours
Life skills 5 hours

That gives you a total of 23 hours per week.

The challenge for every teacher is how to make this time interesting and beneficial for the learner.

The way I set up my class timetable is as follows:
8:30-10:00 Literacy (home language)
10:30-11:45 Mathematics
12:30-13:30 Life skills
15:00-15:30 Literacy (story time)

How do you set up your timetable?

Regards
AC
